Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Review
Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Review
Let me preface this with I am not an audiophile, but I have used many different noise-cancelling headphones in my lifetime and distinguish a quality pair of noise-cancelling headphones from not-so-good ones.
The sound quality is nice and crisp, they do not sound tinny like many noise-cancelling headphones in this price range. As many reviewers have mentioned, the noise-cancelling headphones have good bass to them, not overpowering but you can feel it.
The build quality is good, not top-of-the-line good like a $300 pair of Sennheisers, but feels like you have a good product in your hands. The earcups are very comfortable, I wear glasses so many pairs I owned in the past were uncomfortable to wear with glasses on but with these, I had no such issues. My only complaint in build quality and aesthetics is the buttons feel/look a little cheap, but again for this price range it’s to be expected.
The noise-cancelling and transparency mode is very good. In transparency mode the sounds do not sound robotic at all, another problem I had with other headphones. Noise cancelling does a great job, it will cancel out 80-90% of the noise from my neighbour’s lawn mower. It works so well that I can’t even hear myself speak with it.
There is also very little sound leakage when they’re on your head, even on max volume.
Another huge future these have is multi-point pairing. You can have them paired to 2 devices and switch between them on their own. It stops working so well when you try to pair it with more than 2 devices though, I find the auto-switching no longer functions properly and you will have to manually disconnect/connect. This shouldn’t be a problem for most people but I have 2 phones, a tablet and a laptop that I use them on. I might wait for them to go on sale again and buy another pair so I only have 2 devices paired per headphone.
My only complaint is that I went with the Oats colour, it looks very nice and premium in pictures but in real life, they look like faded white plastic, but this is of my own doing. I wish Anker just made this white instead of this cream colour. Had I known how the Oats colour would look in real life, I would’ve just gone with the black pair instead. My friend has the blue one and it’s very nice as well, it’s a dark rich royal blue colour that makes the headphones look much more expensive than they are.
